This workshop is designed as an inservice for current yoga/mindfulness teachers to explore and discuss the application of trauma-sensitive teaching practices in their current offerings. Additionally, issues related to the transactional nature of the teacher/student relationship will be discussed in the context of cultivating safety in the class for both facilitator and student.
Private pre- and post-course check-ins with Dr. Davis are included with tuition, and continuing education credits through Yoga Alliance will be offered.
Course objectives include:
(1) define trauma informed/sensitive yoga and discuss as it relates to our own YTT training and personal experiences as a student
(2) explore/address issues that may be arising in our teaching or classes related to trauma or emotional unrest
(3) identifying trauma and emotional reactivity in self and student
(4) learning strategies to meet our own and our students emotions effectively both on and off the mat
(5) cultivating community and support around burnout/empathy fatigue.
